Derrick McIntosh

Principal

Mr. Derrick McIntosh has proudly served as the principal of A. B. Hill Elementary School for the past two years. A native of Whitehaven and a proud Whitehaven High School alumnus, Mr. McIntosh is deeply committed to giving back to the community that shaped him. He actively participates in the annual Whitehaven Expo, inspiring high school students to believe that with hard work and dedication, they can achieve anything.

With over 17 years of experience in education within an urban school district, Mr. McIntosh is passionate about creating joyful, engaging learning environments where every child can thrive. Descending from a family of educators, he carries forward a legacy of service and excellence, believing in the good in all people and the importance of students participating in extracurricular activities as part of their holistic development.

Mr. McIntosh earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, followed by a Master’s in Education and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Instructional Leadership from Union University. As a dedicated teacher and mentor, he is committed to providing students with a strong, high-quality foundation that prepares them to become lifelong learners.

A devoted father, brother, and son, Mr. McIntosh continues to serve as a model of perseverance, purpose, and positivity for the A. B. Hill school community.
